Terms of Service
Last updated October 2, 2026 · These Terms are between you and Circus Court (“we,” “us”).
The short version
- This is a game about opinions, not a source of facts. Claims are statements for people to vote on. Nothing here is evidence, and we don't check whether claims are true.
- Results show what voters believe, not what's true. A high “trustworthy” score doesn't make a claim correct, and a low one doesn't make it false.
- Nothing here is medical, legal, financial or other professional advice. Talk to a qualified professional before acting on any claim, especially about your health.
- You're responsible for what you post. We don't endorse claims or comments, including the ones we post to start discussion, and we aren't liable for them.
- One person, one account. No bots, no scraping.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By voting, playing, saving your results, posting or otherwise using Circus Court, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the site. You must be at least 18 years old.
2. What Circus Court is, and isn't
Circus Court is an entertainment and opinion site. People vote on whether statements (“claims”) seem trustworthy or untrustworthy, guess how others voted, and see how opinion splits by state and age.
- Claims are speculative. They are statements put up for a vote, not findings, evidence or reporting. Posting a claim, including claims we post ourselves, doesn't mean we or anyone else believes it.
- We don't fact-check. We don't verify claims, comments or sources, and we make no promise that anything on the site is accurate, complete or current.
- Scores are opinion polls of our users. They reflect the people who chose to vote, who aren't a scientific sample of any population. Age and state are self-reported.
- Not advice. Nothing on the site is medical, health, legal, financial, investment or other professional advice. Don't start, stop or change any treatment, medication, diet or financial decision because of something you read or a score you see here.
3. Your account
- You can play without signing up. We then keep a guest account in your browser. Making an account (a username and password) keeps your results on any device, puts you on the leaderboard and lets you comment.
- One person may have one account. Don't use multiple accounts or automated tools to vote more than once. The age range, state and gender you give must be true; you certify that when you give them.
- You're responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your password safe. Because we don't know who you are, we can't recover an account or reset a password for you.
- We may suspend or close accounts, and remove their votes from results, including past results, if we believe they break these Terms or are automated, fake or coordinated.
4. What you post
You're responsible for the claims and comments you post. Don't post anything that:
- is illegal, or promotes illegal activity;
- defames a real person, particularly a private individual, or states false facts about them as true;
- shares someone's private information, such as a home address, phone number or medical details;
- threatens, harasses or incites violence against anyone;
- infringes someone's copyright, trademark or other rights;
- is spam, advertising you haven't been authorized to post, or malware.
We remove content we believe is illegal or breaks these rules, and we may limit the reach of claims people flag. We aren't obliged to review content before or after it's posted.
You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, copy, adapt, share and include it in aggregated results, for as long as it's on the site and in results and backups made while it was.
5. Votes, results and data
- Your individual votes are never shown to other users or sold.
- We combine votes into anonymous, aggregated results (for example, “62% of voters aged 30–44 in Virginia said trustworthy”). We may publish them and license them to others; licensed results come only from players who saved their results, and you can leave your votes out on your You page.
- We may exclude votes from results at our discretion, for example to remove suspected bots.
6. Things you may not do
- Scrape, crawl, copy or harvest claims, results, comments or other data from the site by automated means, or build a dataset or competing service from them.
- Try to see results without voting, get around our limits or bot checks, or access accounts, systems or data you aren't allowed to.
- Use bots, scripts, paid voters or coordinated groups to cast votes, make predictions or post content.
- Reverse engineer, overload or disrupt the site.
- Pretend to be Circus Court, us, or anyone else.
7. Scores, streaks and the leaderboard
Accuracy scores, streaks, ranks, percentiles and game results are for fun. They have no cash value, can't be bought, sold or exchanged, and don't earn prizes. We may change how they work, correct them, or reset them at any time.
8. Reminders
If you turn on morning reminders, we'll send one browser notification a day. Turn them off any time on your You page or in your browser's settings.
9. Our content
The Circus Court name and logo, the site's design and code, and the compiled database of results belong to us. You may share links to claims and quote individual results with credit to Circus Court. Anything more needs our written permission.
10. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, email circuscourt@gmail.com with the material's location, the work you believe is infringed, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized. We'll remove infringing material and close the accounts of repeat infringers.
11. Disclaimers
The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Claims and comments come from users or are posted by us to prompt a vote; they are not statements of fact by us, and we are not responsible for them or for any decision you make based on them. We don't promise the site will be available, secure or free of errors.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or anything posted on it. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
13. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of something you posted or did in breach of these Terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees, to the extent the law allows.
14. Ending your use
You can stop using the site at any time. We may suspend or end your access at any time, for any reason, including a breach of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as the license you gave us, the disclaimers and the limits on liability, continue after that.
15. Changes and the law that applies
We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we'll ask you to agree to it again the next time you sign in. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Virginia. If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
