The short version
We don't know who you are, and we built it that way. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number.
Playing as a guest
You can vote, guess and play without signing up. The first time you vote, an invisible bot check (Cloudflare Turnstile) runs and we create a guest account tied to your browser, so your votes and streak stay on that device. It has no name, email or phone number.
Making an account
- An account is a username and password. We don't ask for your name, email or phone number. Please don't use your real name as a username.
- Your password is stored by our sign-in provider (Supabase) only as a one-way hash. Nobody, including us, can read it, which also means we can't reset it if you forget it.
- Behind the scenes, your username becomes a made-up sign-in address on our own domain (like yourname@players.circus-court.vercel.app). It never receives mail.
- We keep the age range, state and gender you choose, for the maps and breakdowns, and when you took the honesty pledge.
- We keep a one-way code made from the network you signed up from, so we can spot many accounts created from one place. We don't store IP addresses, though our hosting and sign-in providers keep them briefly in their security logs.
What we keep about your play
Your votes, guesses, streak, Three Strikes games, flags, comments and claims, tied to your guest or saved account, not to you. We also count taps on share buttons and whether a new account arrived through a shared link, without connecting who shared to who arrived.
Morning reminders (optional)
If you turn on reminders, your browser gives us a push address from its notification service (Apple, Google or Mozilla). It doesn't name you. We use it to send one notification a day with today's claim, and we delete it when you turn reminders off or your browser drops it.
What others see
- Nobody else can see how you voted. Claim pages show totals only, and only after you vote.
- Maps and breakdowns only show groups with at least 20 to 30 votes.
- Your username is never shown. Comments show a random animal name that's different on every claim, and the leaderboard uses a fresh one each week.
What we share
We may license anonymous, combined results (for example, “62% of voters aged 30–44 in Virginia trust this claim”) to researchers, media and companies. Those results come only from players with accounts, and never include individual votes or usernames. You can leave your votes out of licensed data on your You page; they still count on the site.
Deleting your account
Delete your account any time from your You page. Your votes, guesses, streak, games and reminders are deleted. Comments you posted stay, with no name attached. Totals already published elsewhere aren't recalculated. Questions: circuscourt@gmail.com.
